CFP: Look Again: Critical Approaches to Black Canadian Film (8/31/07; NEMLA,

After 20 years of steady growth, there has been little critical attention
paid to black Canadian film. What might it mean to align black Canadian film
with African Diaspora studies, feminist, queer or post-colonial studies? How
are we to think through critical approaches to black Canadian cinemas? This
panel is looking for new theoretical approaches to black Canadian film
beyond questions of stereotype and caricature. Analyses of critical methods
welcome. Send 350 word abstracts to Tamara Cooper and Rinaldo Walcott at
