Support for Programs Addressing Public Education Equity
_Norman Foundation_ (http://www.normanfdn.org/)
The Norman Foundation supports efforts that strengthen the ability of
communities to determine their own economic, environmental, and social well-being,
and that help people control those forces that affect their lives. The
Foundation’s specific areas of interest include promoting economic justice and
development through community organizing, working to prevent the disposal of
toxics in communities and to link environmental issues with economic and social
justice, and promoting civil rights by fighting discrimination and violence
and working for equity. The current priority for civil rights is public
education equity, with an emphasis on parent and youth organizing. Letters of
inquiry are reviewed three times per year, with a specific deadline for each area
of interest. The due date for letters of inquiry addressing civil rights is
July 17, 2007. Visit the website listed above for application guidelines.
