Hi Folks:
I am planning my fifth trip to China this summer. This time I am organizing
the Multicultural Educators to China trip through a Chinese travel agency -
in China, therefore have been able to cut the costs in half. We leave JFK
from New York Mon. July 23 and arrive back to JFK from Shanghai on Mon. Aug.
6, 2007. This is my first summer trip. I am doing it then at the request of
all the teachers who cannot get out during the school year.
I got the book *1,000 Places to See Before You Die: A Traveler's Life List *by
Patricia Schultz<http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/002-7020709-4088021?%5Fencoding=UTF8&search-type=ss&index=books&field-author=Patricia%20Schultz>
for Christmas and was excited to see that we will visit many of the places
cited in the book including:
- Tianamen Square
- The Forbidden City
- The Great Wall of China
- The Hutongs of Beijing
All of these are in Beijing and area. Then we travel to Xi'an to see:
- The Terracotta Warriors
- The City Wall of Xi'an
>From here we do to Guilin for a cruise down the famous Li River and a trip
to the Reeed Flut Caves. We do not do the Yangtze Cruise on this trip.
Finally, we spend a few days in historic Shanghai. During this trip we will
get to tour colleges and schools, and meet college and P-12 teachers and
teach in Chinese classrooms. There are optional cultural trips that
coincide with this one for spouses and friends who do not want to do the
professional side.
The website from China is very slow so I have mirrored some of the pages on
my web at http://www.billhowe.org/china2007.htm
I plan to take 10-20 people maximum and finalize the delegation by mid-March
so if you are interested take a look at the web and also pictures from past
trips. Email me if you have any questions.
