Hi Folks,
As people here that I know who are committed to education for social
justice, religious tolerance and conflict work I thought you might find this
story from This American Life especially poignant. One of my students sent
it to me recently. It tells the story of a Muslim family who leaves the
West Bank and moves to America seeking to avoid prejudice and persecution.
Then 9/11 happens and everything changes, especially for their children in a
public school. I found the confluence of religious diversity, conflict,
education and social justice very powerful.

Go to 06 archives and it is the one lifted first, "Shouting Across Divides."
The family's story is intense, but was also important for me to hear.
