The Assistant Head of Upper School & Academic Dean (AD) is responsible
for developing and implementing curricular policies, procedures and
programs that promote rigorous academics and an environment of
academic excellence.
The AD's leadership is essential in setting the "tone" of the Upper
School, animating the values of intellectual inquiry, analytical
thought, and civic responsibility. The AD assumes a highly visible
role of guide and standard bearer for the school's academic goals and
overall mission.

upper school students and leading upper school teachers.
A leader and team player committed to the academic and personal
development of young people and teachers alike.

Responsibilities:
The AD is responsible for the academic program of the Upper School.
The AD is responsible for the quality of teaching.
The AD is responsible for the curricular orientation of incoming
teachers to the mission and educational philosophy of the school.
The AD plays the key role in leading the IB Diploma and AP programs.
The AD is the primary link between the teachers and the IBO and/or
College Board.
The AD also works very closely with IB Diploma, Certificate and AP students.
The AD is responsible for the recruitment of students for the full IB
Diploma program and assists in the selection of students for IB
Certificate and AP courses.
The AD is the primary source of IB and AP regulations regarding
academic honesty and is responsible for the integrity of the exam
sessions.
The AD is responsible for overseeing the Extended Essay process.
The AD publicizes and promotes the IB Diploma and AP programs via
articles, the website, and presentations.
The AD is liaison with IBO offices in Geneva, Buenos Aires and Cardiff.
Supervision:
The Ad supervises the CAS program which is administered by the CAS coordinator.
Direct Report to:
The AD reports directly to the Head of Upper School and works closely
with the Assistant Head of Upper School & Dean of Students to ensure a
high-performing, academically rigorous, student-centered Upper School.
Salary and Benefits:
The salary & benefits are competitive and will be dependent upon the
qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
