National Urban Alliance (NUA) is a dynamic non-profit organization that
partners with school districts around the country to improve instructional
outcomes for students. NUA's work is focused on learning and teaching. NUA
consultants provide ongoing professional development to accelerate literacy
and achievement for urban students and technical assistance to institute
systemic reform to support these activities. NUA consultants deliver
state-of-the art practice to classrooms and school communities.

NUA is seeking highly qualified educational consultants in secondary school
content area particularly in mathematics, science and social studies to
serve as independent contractors. NUA Consultants provide workshops,
classroom demonstration lessons, peer coaching, and technical assistance to
schools and districts.

Applicants must demonstrate knowledge and skills, and document successful
experiences:
• Investigating and applying current urban education methods
• Appreciating the importance of incorporating students' cultural
backgrounds into the learning process;
• Providing quality large and small group workshops;
• Using a wide range of effective research-based instructional strategies to
provide classroom demonstration lessons and facilitate peer coaching;
• Meeting the literacy needs of English language learners (for ELL
applicants); and
• Grouping, differentiating, and assessing for instruction.

Accepted applicants must be available to attend and successfully complete an
intensive induction process that includes multi-day orientations and
institutes, and an apprenticeship period with senior consultants. During the
induction process, applicants are expected to demonstrate their desire and
ability to incorporate NUA strategies into practice.
