Seattle serving 460 students in grades 6-12.

We currently have openings for the following positions:

Director of Intercultural Affairs

Qualifications:

University Preparatory Academy, a coeducational, college preparatory
day school for grades 6-12 in Seattle WA, seeks to fill an
administrative position of Director of Intercultural Affairs. This
position requires a commitment to diversity and global awareness,
vision, initiative, energy, a high degree of organization, and
well-developed collaborative skills. The preferred candidate will have
an advanced degree, experience in fostering diversity, and interest
and experience in globalization. Salary will be commensurate with
experience and education, and based on the ten-month academic
calendar. University Prep is committed to the diversity of its

Basic Responsibilities:

The Director of Intercultural Affairs guides, directs, facilitates,
and represents mission-based school efforts relating to diversity and
international programs at the administrative level for the purpose of
sustaining a school community that educates students to be
responsible, inclusive, sensitive, and proactive in their own
communities and globally.

Duties include overseeing and coordinating programs and activities
relating to diversity, intercultural, and international initiatives
including helping to recruit and retain a diverse faculty and staff,
overseeing professional development of faculty and staff regarding
multiculturalism and cultural competency, providing information,
reflective opportunities, and services for students and faculty and
staff that broaden their understanding of diversity, social justice,
and global affairs, working with individual students, or groups of
students to further their understanding of their responsibilities in
an inclusive community, and cultivating and encouraging parental,
alumni, and community participation in pursuing the school's mission
relating to diversity, intercultural affairs and global awareness.

The Director of Intercultural affairs serves as a member of the
Administrative Team, The Advancement Team, the Academic Council, and
represents University Prep on issues of diversity, social justice, and
global affairs with PNAIS and NAIS. The Director is responsible for
developing and maintaining networks and contacts with various minority
organizations that can enhance recruiting efforts for diverse student,
faculty, and staff populations. The Director supervises the
coordinator of international programs.

Assistant Director of Athletics

The primary responsibility of the Assistant Director of Athletics is
to support the Director of Athletics in managing the day-to-day
operations of University Prep's athletic program. The assistant
athletic director will have significant oversight of the middle school
athletic program and is responsible for coordinating transportation
for the school's co-curricular program.  The position requires an
ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with University Prep
students, staff, faculty, coaches, parents, and administrators.

Qualifications:

Prior teaching or administrative experience at the secondary school
level or significant experience working with middle school and/or high
school age students in an athletic setting.
Demonstrated successful coaching experience at the middle and/or high
school level.
A bachelors degree is required.
Familiarity with the developmental needs of middle and high school age
students.
Proven organizational skills and ability to manage a variety of tasks
related to athletics.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all of the
school's constituencies.

Duties include:

Assists the Athletic Director with the supervision and management of
the overall athletic program.
Under the supervision of the Athletic Director, has primary
responsibility for the Middle School athletic program, and in this
capacity, serves as liaison to the Catholic Youth Organization,
Cascade  Middle School League , and Seattle Parks and Recreation .
Assists the Athletic Director with Emerald City League Matters.
Schedules all University Prep activity, field trip and athletic buses
and drivers.
 Maintains computer databases and records.
Assists the Athletic Director with the hiring, orienting, supervision
and evaluation of coaches.
Assists with the supervision of contests, which include evenings and
weekends. Recruits and schedules supervisors and helpers for all home
contests. Is responsible for game-day operations.
Enter and updates athletics contests on school website for all teams,
including directions to away sites.
Orders, distributes, inventories and collects uniforms, equipment and
first aid supplies.
Performs administrative duties, which include, but are not limited to
the distribution of keys and cell phones, scheduling CPR and First Aid
Classes for coaches, and sending rosters and schedules to the Emerald
City League, WIAA, CYO and Seattle Times.

Associate Director of College and Career Services

University Prep seeks a half-time, Associate Director of College and
Career Services.  This position has the potential to be full-time if
the applicants teaching qualifications meet the schools staffing
needs. University Prep is a vibrant independent day school serving
students in grades six through twelve.  The school is located in a
residential urban section of Seattle located approximately two miles
north of the University of Washington.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in college
admissions (either as a high school counselor or college admission
representative) and the ability to communicate effectively with
students, parents, faculty and staff.  The associate director of
college and career services is a member of the school's educational
support team and occupies one of the more visible positions on campus.

Description:

The Associate Director of College and Career Services will provide the
framework for students to transition from Upper School to the
post-secondary years.  The person works with students and families in
support of the college application process, scholarship and summer
opportunities, and financial aid, as well as assists students and
families with testing, applications, and the final decision-making
process.

Responsibilities:

• Confers individually with junior and senior students about college
and career opportunities, high school curriculum choices, test prep
options, and college visitations;
• Assists the Director with scheduling, planning, and presenting
student/parent information nights and student/alumni gatherings;
• Acts as a liaison for parents and students with college admission
and financial aid offices;
• Writes the school letter of recommendation to colleges for seniors;
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of College and
Career Services.
