NEA's 26th annual higher education conference will convene in our
nation's capital—arguably the epicenter for alliance-building—in a
presidential election year. We will explore the pressures and trends
affecting higher education institutions, and employees and their
unions. Sessions will cover issues of academic freedom, contingent
faculty, education support professionals, salaries and benefits,
collective bargaining, college access and affordability, academic
professional staff, higher education funding, federal legislation and
policy, community colleges, faculty of color, and others. We will
feature what our affiliates and their institutions are doing to
partner to promote and protect higher education as a public good. The
2008 conference will again be a joint one with our higher education
colleagues from the American Federation of Teachers.

Keynote Speakers (Confirmed):

- John Podesta, President and CEO, Center for American Progress
- Charles Ogletree, Professor of Law, Harvard University

The conference will include plenary sessions and panel discussions on
higher education research, policy, and advocacy; cyber sessions about
NEA Online and CD-ROM products, interactive professional
development/pedagogical sessions and union skills building workshops.
