The University of Minnesota-Morris Secondary Education program seeks a
secondary education generalist with demonstrated teaching excellence.
At least three years of middle or secondary school teaching experience
is required. Candidates should be licensed or have been licensed in one
or more of the core secondary content areas. Background in teaching
math or science is preferred but not essential. Doctorate in Curriculum
and Instruction or related field by date of appointment preferred; ABDs
will be considered. At least one year of college teaching experience is
preferred. Appointment will be as assistant professor with doctorate, or
as instructor with ABD. The latter must have doctorate by May 16, 2009
for reappointment. Excellence in teaching and a commitment to productive
scholarship are essential to gaining tenure and promotion. Potential for
academic leadership in a liberal arts setting will be considered.
The responsibilities of this position include teaching courses in the
foundations of education and general methods, supervising field
experiences, and participating in program development and administration.
The successful candidate must be committed to productive scholarship and
to the programmatic development of a small, rigorous, cohort-based
secondary education licensure program. Service/outreach to the
university, community, and profession is essential.
