Dear NAME Members and Friends,
Dr. Asa G. Hilliard, Georgia State University Professor, died Sunday, August 12, while on a trip to Egypt. A well-known teacher, psychologist, and historian, he was a founding member of the National Black Child Development Institute and the Association for the Study of Classical African Civilizations. He was a prolific writer on a variety of issues relevant for educators and others.
According to an article published in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on 08/13/07, Dr. Hilliard reportedly died from malaria which he may have contracted in Ghana. No one knows for sure.
Our condolences go out to his family and GSU friends.
