Social Justice Fund is a member-funded foundation that supports the
creation of a just society through fundraising, grantmaking, and
member involvement. The foundation provides essential resources to
organizations in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming to
strengthen grassroots efforts in the broad-based movement for
progressive, systemic social change.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
The staff of six includes: Executive Director, Director of Operations,
Grants and Program Director, Grants and Program Administrator,
Development Associate, and Office Administrator. The current Social
Justice Fund budget is $1.4 million.
Executive Director
The Social Justice Fund seeks an Executive Director with a passion for
racial, economic, and social justice. The ideal candidate will have an
understanding of all forms of oppression – including racism, classism,
sexism, and homophobia. The Executive Director will inspire a shared
vision for social change and bring funders, members, and grantees
together to direct resources and implement solutions from the bottom
up.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Communication
* Communicate SJF's mission, vision, values, and member-driven funding model
* Build strong partnerships with regional and national foundations,
leading the philanthropic
community in areas such as racial justice grantmaking
* Develop collaborative relationships with a diversity of
constituents, including low-income people, immigrants, and communities
of color as well as wealthy donors Work in partnership with the board
to develop and implement a new SJF strategic plan to lead the
organization's fourth decade of social change philanthropy
Fundraising
* Ensure that SJF has adequate funds to meet its annual and long-term goals
* Identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors
* Involve and motivate board members and volunteers in fundraising and
membership development
* Help identify and secure foundation and corporate funding
* Explore, design, and oversee sources of new revenue
Budgeting and Fiscal Oversight
* Create and monitor the annual budget with input from board and staff
* Manage operating expenses and ensure that revenues meet budget targets
Management
* Maintain a positive and strong organizational culture that helps
attract and retain competent, enthusiastic staff
* Oversee and mentor staff to help them perform to the best of their abilities
* Oversee systems and procedures to maximize and evaluate program effectiveness
* Ensure that performance evaluations are conducted, and that employee
compensation is
competitive in the region and field
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
* Commitment to Mission: Passion for racial, economic, and social
justice. Knowledge of social justice and human rights organizations.
* Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to recruit, attract, retain,
and develop a diverse staff, board, and volunteers, as well as to
effectively utilize their talents. Ability to help build cross-class
and cross-race relationships among staff, board, and membership.
* Fundraising Experience: A proven track record raising major gifts
from individuals and foundations and in motivating board members and
other volunteers to do the same.
* Organizational Management: Three+ years senior-level experience with
planning, budget oversight, human resources, and information
technology systems.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
$70,000-85,000 starting salary, depending on experience, plus benefits
including medical insurance,
paid vacation and sick leave, 10 paid holidays, and flexible spending account.
