In light of the recent high-profile episodes of public figures in the hot seat because of racist, homophobic, sexist or anti-Semitic remarks, the Anti-Defamation League’s A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE Institute is happy to feature its new Web page “What Did You Just Say?”: Challenging Biased Language @ http://www.adl.org/education/bias_language/. The page contains resources for educators, family members and the general public that address what can be done when challenging biased language. Specifically, it includes:
Strategies for responding effectively to bigoted words, jokes and slurs
Guidelines for examining one’s own biases, attitudes and behaviors
Suggestions for achieving bias-free communication
Activities and curricular resources for educators
Please circulate to others who may find these resources useful.
Thanks!
