The racial lens is incredibly pervasive.
So pervasive that the gender one is virtually invisible.
Or...is the racial one used to keep the gender one invisible?
Of course.......it was "he"....
Why aren't we discussing/examining the pervasiveness of male violence across
all ethnicities...
Well...some folks are.
I strongly recommend the video "Tough Guise" produced by Media Education
Resources, which does a lot of other outstanding videos, looking at "stories"
told in popular media and internalized by youth.
They also did the recent analysis of Hip Hop music...
