*Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics, Inc. (LEAP)* is pleased to invite
you to participate in our *Candidate Leadership Training (CLT)* to be held *May
16 – 20, 2007* in at Kellogg West Conference Center and Lodge in *Pomona, CA
*.
The program goals of our Candidate Leadership Training are as follows:
- Increase awareness and educate Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders
(AAPIs) on different ways in which they can make meaningful contributions to
their community as elected and appointed officials, or civically active
community leaders;
- Prepare and train existing and emerging AAPI leaders for leadership
roles in American public life through seeking elected or appointed office;
- Strengthen local communities by building an infrastructure to
encourage and sustain civic and political participation at the local,
statewide, and national level; and
- Serve as a resource for AAPIs in civic or political roles.

The CLT is one component of LEAP's *Civic Leadership Institute (CLI)*, a
non-partisan and multifaceted approach toward building civic involvement and
political leadership, sustaining local community infrastructure, and
capacity building in our AAPI community. The other component of our CLI
includes regional Civic Engagement Conferences held throughout California.
This year's regions include Orange County, Stockton, Fresno, and Oakland.
