Hello, friends.

As I announced in a previous email, one of the exciting features of this
year's NAME conference is the first ever NAME Poetry Slam.

The event will have two parts: (1) a poetry SLAM competition ($100
prize!), and (2) a non-competitive open mic for those of us who'd like to
share our poetry but who aren't quite ready to compete in a slam. (If you
want to read for the open mic, you don't need to have a performance piece
of poetry--just any piece of poetry about identity, diversity,
multicutluralism, equity, justice, education, anti-racism, anti-classism,
anti-sexism, anti-heterosexism, anti-any-kind-of-oppression will do.

Remember, this is a fundraiser, so if you choose to read, you're helping
to raise money for NAME.

So please, please, please consider coming to the event (which is Friday
evening at the hotel) and reading your work. Or, at the very least, come
and enjoy the contemporary spectacle of live poetry!
