Hi Carli,

I began my doctoral studies at the University of Massachusetts/Amherst in 1975
and the very first course I walked into was a joint undergraduate/graduate
course called FOUNDATIONS OF MULTICULTURAL EDUCATION taught by Professor Bob
Suzuki. It was followed by a number of other courses in multicultural education
but wasn't a full-blown program, either graduate or undergraduate, until a few
yeaers later. When I joined the faculty in 1980, there was already in place an
undergraduate specialization in multicultural education and many graduate
students were also specialzing in the field. I hope this helps.
