Illinois State University announces a tenure track assistant/associate
professorship in Bilingual/Bicultural Education beginning August 15,
2007.  Candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate
courses in bilingual/bicultural and multicultural education on and
off-campus in various cohorts or professional development school sites.
Candidates must also provide a record of excellence in teaching English
language learners, preferably in elementary education.  Candidates must
be willing to provide active service at the local, state, and
national/international levels.
Minimum Qualifications

   * Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) with native or near-native
language proficiency.
   * Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Bilingual Education, Applied Linguistics, or
related field awarded no later than August, 2007.
   * Three years experience in teaching English language learners with a
record of excellence.
   * Record of scholarly productivity or scholarly potential in
bilingual education, first/second language acquisition, biliteracy
development, bilingualism as a process or in its relationship to social
justice and its political context and/or other related areas of
research.

Preferred Qualifications:
*         Experience in bilingual education in public schools
*         Experience in multilingual/multicultural literacy projects
*         Experience in seeking external funding and in providing
professional development

The Department
Curriculum and Instruction has approximately 70 full-time equivalent
faculty offering teacher education programs at the undergraduate,
masters, and doctoral levels.  Of its three undergraduate majors,
elementary education is the largest with about 1300 students. All of the
Department's teacher education programs are fully accredited by NCATE
and the Illinois State Board of Education.
