SERC is currently seeking qualified candidates for a full-time opening on
its consultant staff.  Initial responsibilities will include coordination of
the Connecticut Parent Information and Resource Center as recently
identified by the U.S. Department of Education.



Applicants must have:



v      Specific expertise and experience in the development, coordination,
and management of large, multifaceted programs;



v      Understanding of application of the research base regarding
school-family-community partnerships and working with all families,
including those from racially, ethnically, culturally, or linguistically
diverse backgrounds, from a strengths-based perspective;



v      Extensive knowledge of the parent involvement and parental rights
components of the federal No Child Left Behind Act, including school choice,
supplemental educational services, and school report cards;



v      Background in the design, delivery, and evaluation of high quality
professional development;



v      Expertise in the use of all forms of media and technology as a
dissemination and outreach tool;



v      Demonstrated competence in interagency collaboration and
coalition-building;



v      Excellent oral and written communication skills, with expertise in
the uses of social marketing to promote public awareness.





The ideal applicants will also have demonstrated effectiveness in a
collaborative, highly team-oriented environment, yet possess initiative,
self-motivation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
independently.  All SERC personnel must be active members of SERC's learning
community.



Candidates should have a Master's degree in education or a related field,
although a Sixth Year Certificate or Doctorate is preferred.  Applicants who
do not meet all of the stated qualifications, yet believe they possess
equivalent qualifications, are encouraged to submit written statements
indicating how their background and experience qualify them for the
position.  Candidates from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
are strongly encouraged to apply.
