Appalachian State University is seeking nominations and applications for 
the Director of the Lee H. McCaskey Center for Student Involvement and 
Leadership.  The Center is a unit within the Division of Student 
Development.  Functions of the Center include curricular and 
co-curricular leadership development programs, New Student Orientation 
Phase II, Student Publications, Greek Life, Multicultural Student 
Development, Gender Education and Women's Center programs, advisement 
and coordination of recognized student organizations, student 
governance, and advisement of selected student honor societies.  The 
director provides leadership, advisement, and supervision for the Center 
and its staff along with actively engaging with students, faculty, and 
staff at the University.  The Center is a high-energy and high-traffic 
office with a great deal of student interaction and contact.

Candidates must possess a minimum of five (5) years of progressively 
increasing responsibility in Student Development and a Master's degree 
in an appropriate discipline.  Additionally, candidates should have 
experience in curricular and co-curricular leadership programming, 
student advisement, program development and implementation, budgeting, 
staff development and supervision, assessment, and a proven history of 
student advocacy.  Candidates should be committed to working in a 
collaborative and team-oriented environment which engages students, 
staff, and faculty.  The Center is committed to serving all 
constituents, and candidates should be able to demonstrate a commitment 
to diversity.

contact information for at least three (3) references.  Review of 
applications will begin on November 27, 2006, and consideration will be

Salary is commensurate with experience.

The starting date for the position is negotiable, but the position is 
available immediately.  Appalachian State University is a member 
institution of the University of North Carolina System and is located in 
the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina with a student 
enrollment of 15,000.  Appalachian State University is an equal
