I am a doctoral student(Western Michigan University, graduation no later than Dec. 2007) with 28 practical years of classroom teaching, working on my dissertation.  I am requesting information/contacts from/about high-achieving, high-poverty elementary schools with White principals in urban districts. I am also looking at high-achieving, high-poverty non-White principals as a possible comparison. With the continuing trends of White educators, it seems vital to explore the commonalities of success in diverse settings. 

It is my contention that university education programs do not prepare prospective teachers/administrators well enough to work in diverse urban schools.  That is the reason for my dissertation topic.  

Down the road, I would like to work with perspective teachers/administrators in this topic area. So, I am scouting for possible job opportunities for late 2007.
