The 33rd ANNUAL BILINGUAL MULTICULTURAL EDUCATION/EQUITY CONFERENCE will be
held January 29-31, 2007 at the Sheraton Anchorage Hotel. The theme for this
year's conference is Honoring Culture, Language and Learning.

WORKSHOP PRESENTATIONS are being solicited. We especially encourage
proposals that focus on culturally responsive schooling, language &
learning, promising programs, successful ELL programs, equity,
accountability, data, planning, and school improvement strategies,
professional development and student leadership.

The workshop presentations and cultural entertainment forms must be returned
to the Coordinators by October 16, 2006. You will be notified by November 10
regarding the selection of your workshop proposal.

THE GOALS FOR THE CONFERENCE ARE:

To increase public and professional awareness of successful program
practices in bilingual/ multicultural education and
To share strategies to prepare all students to meet district and state
performance standards as required in No Child Left Behind.
To provide an opportunity for selected high school and college students to
share and explore issues in multicultural and heritage language education
and to develop leadership skills.
To address strategies in educational settings which enable students to be
proficient in their heritage language and culture.
To address educational equity issues of gender, race and national origin.
To provide an education forum for Alaskan educators from all regions.
