Diverse: Issues In Higher Education Announces the Top 100 National Colleges
and Universities That Graduate the Most Minority Students
Thursday July 20, 3:16 pm ET

FAIRFAX, Va., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Diverse: Issues In Higher Education
magazine has released its rankings of the Top 100 colleges and universities
that graduate the most minority students in the United States. In its July 13,
2006, edition, the magazine identifies the Top 100 minority degree producers
among graduate institutions of higher education. The data, compiled
exclusively for Diverse by Dr. Victor Borden of Indiana University-Purdue University of
Indianapolis, is the only national report on the ability of U.S. colleges
and universities to award graduate and professional degrees to
African-American, Latino, Asian American and American Indian students.

Using the most recent data from the U.S. Department of Education (2004- 2005
academic year), Dr. Borden has created rankings in the total number of
master's, doctoral, and first professional degrees awarded at every American
college, as well as specific figures in major fields of study and disciplines.
This marks the 15th consecutive year that Diverse (formerly Black Issues In
Higher Education) has produced this original research. Among the significant
findings in the 2006 report:

* Webster University with 1,631 minority graduates ranked first in
master's degrees awarded to combined African-American, Latino, Asian
American and American Indian students.

* Among historically Black colleges and universities, Howard University
was first in doctoral degrees awarded to African-Americans. Argosy
University-Sarasota led traditionally White institutions in doctoral
degrees awarded to African-Americans.

* Florida International University was edged out as the number one
producer of Hispanic master's degrees by Long Island University-C.W.
Post.
The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey retained its spot
as the No. 1 producer of minority M.D.'s.

This special report is one of a two-part series. The Diverse Top 100
Undergraduate Degree Producers special report was published on June 1, 2006. A
comprehensive presentation of 2006 degree statistics can be found at the
