WestEd, a nonprofit research, development, and service agency, works
with education and other communities to promote excellence, achieve
equity, and improve learning for children, youth, and adults. While
WestEd serves the states of Arizona, California, Nevada, and Utah as one
of the nation's Regional Educational Laboratories, our agency's work
extends throughout the United States and abroad. WestEd has 14 offices
nationwide, from Washington and Boston to Arizona, Southern California,
and its headquarters in San Francisco.
WestEd has a special focus on using information systems, such as the
World Wide Web, to encourage collaboration among educational
organizations. The ADG staff is composed of highly-skilled individuals
that include graphic designers, database developers, network managers,
content and video specialists and interactive Web developers. Because
many of the ADG staff are former educators, the group is especially
sensitive to the specific needs and issues related to education and its
processes.
Position Description:
The State Representative is responsible for the coordination and support
of WestEd Migrant Program-related activities within one or more States.
Responsibilities:
Develop and Maintain Relationships with Educational and Migrant Agencies:
· Work with the State Departments of Education and Migrant Program
representatives to document State-specific information including data
systems, applicable laws and regulations, contact information, etc.
· Identify and cultivate key educational resources, including state
level contacts and early adopters at the regional, district or local
levels to aid in application development and implementation
· Identify and utilize existing communication methods for outreach to
regional and local users, including websites, listservs, newsletters and
other means
· Attend national, regional or Statewide educational conferences and
gatherings
· Perform training and orientation sessions in person or via video
conference
Application Development
· Work with program staff to gather and define application requirements
· Work with online learning resources to develop and deliver training to
users
· Work with Documentation Writer to develop documentation
· Work with Online Training Specialist to develop application and
program training courses
· Work with development staff to create user reports
· Contribute to written reports that document deployment progress,
outreach efforts and other topics as needed
Qualifications:
· Knowledge of, and experience working in Migrant Programs highly desired.
· Experience working with diverse communities.
· Ability to work as a key member of a team.
· Ability to work well independently and under direction.
· Ability to manage and balance multiple tasks and priorities.
· Strong written and oral communication skills.
· General computer skills highly desired.
· Multi-lingual applicants are encouraged; Spanish language skills are
preferred
· Travel is required.
· Security screening is required.
