If we are thinking about the criteria, as much a I like the idea of
NYC for a site since I live here, it would be extremely hard to keep
hotel and other incidental costs low. Organizing a conference like
this in NYC is also nightmarish thinking through conference sites and
proximity to reasonably priced accomodation. A very lovely compromise
on the East Coast - a diverse city, with a major airport and if I
might add my own criteria, solid research centers might be
Philadelphia.
Other suggestions which have already been put on the table and I agree
are good if we are considering the criteria are:
Seattle, WA, Cinncinatti OH, Washington DC, Atlanta Georgia and
perhaps Chicago (although I don't know anything about the hotel costs
there)
Another brief thought - Vancouver, British Columbia, Ottawa Ontario,
Toronto Ontario and Montreal Quebec are all extremely diverse, have
great research centers, would accomodate convention good sites and
well appointed low cost hotels and would be very easy to coordinate.
Don't discount our northern partners!
We would like to spread them out geographically - West Coast, East
Coast, Mid-West, etc. We want to be in diverse cities with rich
cultural backgrounds. We need to keep hotel room costs down ideally
to less that $145.00 a night. There needs to be a major airport in
the city, ideally?served by discount airlines.
