The National Association for Asian and Pacific American Education (NAAPAE)
is hosting its 29th Annual Conference on April 20-21, 2007 in Waikiki,
Hawaii. The theme of the conference is "Pacific Pathways: Engage, Educate,
Enlighten," and will focus on three areas: engagement, education, and
leadership.
Individuals are invited to present workshops in the following topics:
1. Social, cultural, and educational issues of Polynesian, Pacific
Islanders, or Asian Americans;
2. Leadership development within the Polynesian, Pacific Islander, or Asian
American communities; and,
3. Outreach to Polynesian, Pacific Islander, or Asian American communities.
Summaries of research papers on Polynesians, Pacific Islanders, or Asian
Americans are also welcome. Research topics might be any of the following:
*Social and Cultural Issues* (includes, but not limited to, the following
topics)
*Adolescents and Gangs Identity
*Dependency and Addiction Immigration
*Criminal Corrections System Labor
*Gender and Sexuality Polynesian, Pacific Islander, or Asian American Images
*Education* (includes, but not limited to, the following topics)
*English Language Acquisition Higher Education
*Ethnic Studies
*No Child Left Behind
*Heritage, Language, and Culture Teacher Education
*Community Outreach and Development *(includes, but not limited to, the
following topics)
*Family-School-Community Partnership Political Participation
*Community Service Learning Social and Legal Services
*Health Youth Advocacy

Proposals submitted electronically by January 10, 2007, will receive
priority for selection. Also receiving priority will be proposals submitted
on a CD and postmarked by January 10, 2007.
