Chicago 's model dual language program seeks talented subs and more starting
January 2007
Several vacancies beginning in January 2007 include coverage for extended
medical leaves in primary grades K-2. Other possible future opportunities
include an early intervention reading specialist and a technology
coordinator.
ABOUT THE SCHOOL: Founded by parents in 1975 • National model for dual
language instruction (80% / 20% in lower grades) • Promotes academic
excellence through multilingual/multicultural education • Curriculum focused
on the peoples of the Americas • Small class sizes • Serves approximately
600 economically and ethnically diverse preschool through 8th grade students
from all over Chicago.
ABOUT THE FACULTY: Creative, collaborative and dynamic • Most possess
Masters Degrees • Work side-by-side with parents for an active partnership •
Knowledgeable and articulate • Promote caring, cooperative and accepting
environment which promotes social, affective and cognitive development of
the whole child.
RECOMMENDED credentials: Illinois Type 04 or 03 Standard Certificate •
Bilingual Approval or Endorsement • Transitional Bilingual (Type 29)
Teaching Certificate • High levels of proficiency (speaking, reading and
writing) in both English and Spanish.
ALSO PREFERRED areas of expertise include familiarity and interest in: Dual
language instruction • Cooperative learning • Differentiated instruction •
