Assistant/Associate Professor in Social Studies/Multicultural Education
The University of Southern Indiana seeks a bright, energetic, and committed teacher educator to teach social studies methods and multicultural education. Appointment to this tenure-track position will be at the assistant or associate professor level.
Responsibilities will include teaching social studies methods courses at the primary and intermediate program levels and the multicultural education course which is required for all teacher education students. The position presents an exceptional opportunity for teaching, service, and research in social studies and multicultural education.
The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in curriculum and instruction, social studies education, or a closely related field. Three or more years of P-6 teaching experience or equivalent experience is also preferred. Appointment begins August 20, 2007.

Wyoming Excellence in Higher Education Endowed Chair in Science
Education
The College of Education is pleased to announce the inauguration of
the Wyoming Excellence in Higher Education Endowed Chair in Science
Education. In addition to a salary commensurate with the status of a
recognized national/international scholar this position includes
funding to assist the chair?s research and teaching endeavors.
We are seeking a dynamic leader with knowledge of P-20 science
education and the ability to engage multiple constituents. An earned
doctorate with a well-established record of research including a
history of extramural funding is expected. The candidates? research
agendas should be relevant to P-20 education and demonstrate
knowledge of cognition and student learning. The successful
candidate will have a record of excellence in teaching, and in
outreach to constituencies beyond the university campus.
This endowed chair will be a leader in the College of Education?s
focus to build on its existing programs in science education,
teaching, outreach, and service, and the existing UW
interdisciplinary strengths in science research, to cultivate a
nationally recognized graduate program in science education.
Preparing the next generation of science education leaders and
university faculty who are equipped to educate science teachers for
today and tomorrow?s technology-rich educational environments is a
program priority. The endowed chair will join the College of
Education?s science education faculty and the intercollegiate,
interdisciplinary Science and Mathematics Teaching Center which has
established ties to UW science and mathematics departments, the
Wyoming Geographic Information Science Center, the neuroscience
program, the Helga Otto Haub School of Environment and Natural
Resources, and the newly created School of Energy Resources.
Responsibilities include research, collaboration with
interdisciplinary teams in seeking extramural funding, teaching in
areas of expertise, and service/outreach on a state and national level.
The University of Wyoming is committed to its mission of nurturing an

academic freedom, personal integrity, and mutual respect. The College
of Education supports the University?s mission with initiatives that
include strong support for the Shepard Symposium for Social Justice,
publication of the journal Multicultural Perspectives, a state-wide
ESL endorsement grant, and recruiting and supporting an increasingly
diverse faculty.
The University of Wyoming is a doctoral/research (extensive),
Internet II, Division I-A, land-grant university with more than
13,000 students enrolled in baccalaureate, master?s, and doctoral
programs on and off campus. The only four-year, state university in
Wyoming, UW is located in Laramie, a city of 27,000 nestled on the
high plains between two ranges of the Rocky Mountains. The campus is
a two-hour drive north of Denver, CO. Clean air, open spaces,
abundant blue sky, a strong state budget with one of the lowest state
tax structures in the nation, and proximity to numerous national
parks, recreational areas, and forests are among the special fringe

To expose the glaring hypocrisy and double standards that the group is
self-righteously engaging in I did a quick Internet search on various
?white? ethnic scholarship search terms and got large number of hits. If
Joe is so opposed to scholarships that have an ethnic focus, I would
suggest he include in his noble crusade ethnic scholarships for students
from the following ethnicities as well:
